A 15 year old Springbank matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The sherry influence is strong, yet the distillery's own character stays clear: dunnage warehouse aroma, a light peat note, saltiness and mineral tones sit alongside the sweet sherry.
The nose is big and rich, with cured meat, beef jerky, clove, mint, iodine and tinned plums, and a langoustine note pointing to the maritime side. On the palate the peat shows more clearly, with sooty stove smoke and tobacco leaf beside plums, walnuts, figs and demerara sugar. The finish builds with soot, leather and walnuts.
