A 25 year old Campbeltown single malt from Springbank, distilled in 1997 and matured in a single rum cask. It is one of 105 bottles from the cask. Springbank is the only distillery in Scotland to malt, distil, mature and bottle on the same site.
The nose starts light, floral and restrained, with citronella, plasticine, dried citrus and cleaning spray. The palate opens with key lime and citrus zest, then lychee, dried apricot, guava and pineapple. With water it turns richer, with a waxy edge of citronella and warm cinnamon. The finish is punchy but fades quickly, leaving a gentle sweetness reminiscent of sweet cinnamon apple cereal.
