Stauning Bastard is a Danish rye whisky from the Stauning distillery near Skjern in Jutland. It is the second release in the distillery's experimental Research Series, and its label was decorated by the Danish tattoo artist Thit Hansgaard, as was the first release. The mash is 70% malted rye and 30% malted barley. The whisky spent three years in heavily charred virgin oak casks, then moved into five mezcal casks from Oro de Oaxaca for a further six months. It is bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle.
