Stauning – Peat 20th Anniversary Edition

This is a Danish single malt made to mark twenty years of Stauning, which began in 2005 when nine friends started distilling in an old slaughterhouse in Stauning. Only 2005 bottles were filled, a nod to the founding year. It is made from equal parts peated and unpeated malt, aged for at least 10 years in a mix of casks: eight ex-bourbon, three virgin oak, two ex-port and one ex-sherry. All of it was distilled at the Stauning Farm Distillery. The peat comes from Bølling Sø, a historic peat area near the distillery, and the barley is local.
