Stauning Peat is a Danish single malt from batch 1-2020, bottled at 47% in a 70cl bottle. The barley comes from fields around the distillery and is malted on the distillery floor, then smoked with peat from the Klosterlund bog. The spirit is double distilled in small pot stills heated over an open flame and matured in first-fill Maker's Mark casks. It is unfiltered, so a little sediment may appear. Apple and lemon zest lead the nose, giving way to cool melon and green grapes on the palate, with a gentle smoke and a long, sweet finish.
