Stauning Peat is a Danish single malt made with local peat and matured for just over five years in first fill Maker's Mark bourbon barrels. The spirit was distilled between 2012 and 2014 and bottled in July 2019 at 48.4%, in a 50cl bottle. It is not chill-filtered.
The barley is floor-malted locally and the spirit is double distilled in pot stills heated by direct fire, at the distillery in Stauning, West Jutland.
The nose is lightly smoky, with grain, chocolate, oak and pepper. The palate brings smoke, chocolate, nougat, caramel and vanilla, and the finish is long, with peat smoke, vanilla and cream caramel.
