Stauning – R.Y.E. Maple Syrup Cask Whisky of Denmark (53.5%)

This is a Danish rye whisky from Stauning, bottled at 53.5% as a relaunch of an earlier release. It was matured in casks that previously held maple syrup from Vermont. The original rye finished in maple syrup casks began as a cask experiment and went on to win a major prize at the World Whiskies Awards 2023, for a single cask rye. That exact whisky cannot be repeated, so this edition is a vatting of 10 casks, filled into 2,500 bottles. The nose brings warm spices and dried fruit. On the palate there is caramelised apple, ripe plum and toasted oak.
