Stauning – Smoked R.Y.E. Porter Beer Cask Whisky (51.4%)

Stauning Smoked R.Y.E. Porter Beer Cask Whisky is a smoked Danish rye whisky finished in porter casks from the brewery To Øl. The mash is 60% rye and 40% barley, floor malted, kiln dried and smoked with Danish peat and heather at the Stauning distillery. The whisky first matured in heavily charred American virgin oak, then spent a final period in the porter casks. It is bottled at 51.4% from ten casks, making 2,500 bottles in all. The nose brings toasted malt, vanilla and bonfire smoke. The palate offers rye bread, beeswax, orange peel, cherry, plum, coffee, chocolate, brown sugar, dried fruit, tobacco and warm spices, with peat and heather smoke alongside.
