This is Stauning Whisky of Denmark 10 Years Old Peat Smoked Single Malt, issued as the Stauning 20th Anniversary Edition. It marks the start of Stauning Whisky in 2005, when nine friends starting out as entrepreneurs began making whisky in an old slaughterhouse. Only 2005 bottles were filled, matching the founding year. It is made from equal parts peated and unpeated malt, matured for at least 10 years in a chosen mix of 8 bourbon casks, 3 virgin oak casks, 2 port casks and 1 sherry cask. It is bottled at 50.02%. The nose brings pear, apricot, grain, heather honey and vanilla, while the palate offers tobacco, dried fruit, campfire smoke and oak spices.
