This is a Lowland single grain Scotch from Strathclyde, distilled in 2005 and bottled as a single cask by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society at 62.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is one of 222 bottles. The spirit spent 11 years in an ex-bourbon barrel before moving to a second-fill, heavy toast, medium char hogshead. The nose opens tart and crisp, with bruised apples, pecan pie, soot and clotted cream. Water brings shoe polish, red cola, liquorice and rice wine. The palate is grainy and sweet, with Madeira sponge, young Calvados, cinnamon sugar and a little chilli warmth. The finish is soft, with fudge and sunflower oil.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
