Strathmill 2014 10 Year Old – Murray McDavid Benchmark

A 10 year old Speyside single malt from Strathmill, distilled in 2014 and bottled by Murray McDavid as its Benchmark release. Strathmill was built in 1892 near the River Isla and began as a corn mill, before being converted to make whisky as Scotch whisky grew in popularity during the 1890s. The malt is described as a light, oily and fruity Speysider. This bottling matured in a combination of casks that Koval Distillery in Chicago uses for its bourbon, rye, four grain and oat whiskeys, a result of Murray McDavid's relationship with Koval as a wood partner.
