This is a 26 year old single cask Strathmill from Speyside, distilled in 1974 and bottled in 2000 at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is cask #1215.
The whisky was hand-selected and bottled by Direct Wines for its First Cask series, which was produced for the First Cask Whisky Circle, a club run by that company.
Strathmill's spirit stills have a purifier pipe running from the lyne arm into the body of the still. This adds a lightly oily character to the new make, which comes across as olive oil alongside lightly fruity and grassy notes.
