An Italian herbal liqueur produced since 1860 by the S. A. Distilleria Liquore Strega in Benevento. It is made from around 70 botanicals and has a vibrant yellow colour from saffron, with no artificial additives. Bottled at 40% ABV, it is minty, piney, mildly sweet and richly spiced. It can be served neat, chilled or on the rocks, and is used in cocktails and desserts. Historically it was aged in ash-wood barrels to integrate its herbal medley.
Tasting Notes
Bright saffron tinges open into a mint-forward aroma with juniper, pine and soft anise notes.
Lightly viscous, sweet-herbal body featuring mint, fennel, cinnamon, vanilla, honey and cloves, with piney freshness and a touch of menthol.
Smooth, lingering aftertaste of spearmint, saffron and gentle bitter spice.
