Suntory The Essence of Suntory Chita 20 Year Old 2000 Sakura Cask Finish (2020) (50cl, 50%)

This is a 20 year old Chita single grain whisky from Suntory, a 2020 addition to The Essence of Suntory Whisky series. It is a blend of clean type Chita grain whisky distilled in 2000, bottled at 50% ABV in a 50cl bottle. It spent its first fifteen years in white oak and was finished for its last three years in Sakura wood casks. The Chita grain distillery opened in 1972 as Suntory's second distillery. The nose is described as reminiscent of sakura mochi. The palate brings lychee, white grape and acacia honey, and the aroma of cherry blossom cake lingers in the finish.
