This is Yamazaki 18 Years Old in a 100th Anniversary edition, from the Suntory distillery that produced Japan's first authentic whisky. It has been finished in Mizunara casks, made from Japanese oak.
The Mizunara finish is described as adding coconut, sandalwood and a hint of oriental spices. These sit alongside the character that comes from eighteen years of ageing and a careful selection of malted barley, giving a rich, subtle taste.
