Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 is a Japanese single malt from Suntory's Yamazaki distillery, released on 1 February 2016 in a run of 5000 bottles. It is bottled at 48% ABV and carries no age statement.
The 2016 release is largely the 2013 blend with two more years of ageing, together with other malts aged up to 25 years. The blend was married in casks that previously held Oloroso sherry.
The notes run to raisins, clove and chocolate with a slight bitterness, and the dram moves from sweet fruit to hints of smoke and a tart acidity.
