This is a 12-year-old single malt from Talisker, on the Isle of Skye, distilled in November 2009 and aged in a single refill hogshead. Douglas Laing bottled it in its Old Particular series at 48.4% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. The hogshead gave 136 bottles. The nose is a smoky sweetness with coastal sea air and charred wood. The palate runs from caramel sweetness to bacon crisps, seaweed and peppercorn. The finish is long and maritime, with seashells, bonfire embers and gentle spice.
