This is an 8 year old Talisker from the Isle of Skye, released as part of the 2020 Diageo Special Releases. It is bottled at 57.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was aged in ex-pot still Caribbean rum casks, a first for the distillery. It belongs to the Rare by Nature series, which repeats the previous year's theme, and the Talisker that year was an 8 year old rather than the 15 year old of 2019.
The nose is lightly peaty, a little salty and smoky, with some red fruit. Sweet citrus comes first on the palate, followed by salt, pepper and an oily texture. The finish is medium and oily, with lingering peat and a salty-sweet aftertaste.
