This is the 2021 Special Release of Talisker 8 Year Old, a single malt Scotch whisky from the Isle of Skye. It is bottled at 59.7% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
Eight years is the age at which Talisker was traditionally bottled, and the whisky is described as bold, direct and classic in style. Its peaty smoke is credited to specially selected casks.
The nose is sweet and maritime, with porridge oats, briny seaweed, crystal salt and iodine over mountain smoke. The palate is oily, salty and lightly sweet, ending in a peppery catch. The finish is long, warming and smoky.
