Talisker The Wild Explorador is a 2023 Special Release single malt from the Isle of Skye, in a 70cl bottle at 59.7% ABV.
It is finished in a combination of Ruby, White and Tawny Port casks, a choice made as a nod to the Portuguese origins of the caravel, the seafaring ship that inspired the release.
The nose starts with sticky malt loaf, sultanas and dates before turning to sea air, salt and sand dunes, with peat smoke underneath. The palate is creamy, then salty, peppery and smoky, and the finish is long and spicy.

Creamy mouthfeel, lightly sweet with rich fruit, turning very salty, then peppery and gunpowder smoky
Long and spicy, with a catch of chilli pepper leaning towards Sichuan pepper
