Tamdhu – 12 Years Sherry Oak

This is a 12 year old single malt from Tamdhu, a Speyside distillery at Knockando in Morayshire. It was relaunched in 2018 and replaced the previous 10 year old core bottling. Tamdhu matures its whisky only in Oloroso sherry casks from Spanish bodegas, and this 12 year old was kept exclusively in sherry casks. The bottle design recalls Victorian times. The nose offers orange sweets, cinnamon bun and toasted oak, with a little mint chocolate. On the palate there is plenty of plum, juicy raisins, fried banana, raspberry jam doughnut and oak spice. The finish brings chocolate fondant, a touch of smoke and sweet cinnamon again.
