Teeling – Wonders Of Wood Chinkapin Oak Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (75cl, 50%)

This is the first edition in Teeling's Wonders Of Wood series, a single pot still Irish whiskey made from a mash of 50% malted and 50% unmalted barley and triple distilled in Teeling's Dublin distillery. It comes in a 70cl bottle. It was fully matured in virgin chinkapin American white oak casks. Chinkapin oak is a wide-grained wood native to eastern and central North America, and it gives this whiskey a gingerbread spice and banana cake sweetness. The series is made in partnership with The Tree Council Of Ireland and supports the planting of native Irish trees on an acre in Wicklow. The nose offers ripe red fruits, berries and pears with toasted wood and spice. The palate balances fruit and spice with oak tannins and burnt sugar, and the finish is dry with honey and spice.
