Teeling – Wonders of Wood Virgin Portuguese Oak Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (70cl, 50%)

Teeling Wonders of Wood Virgin Portuguese Oak is a single pot still Irish whiskey, the second release in the Wonders of Wood series. It was made at a new Dublin distillery from a mash bill of 50% malted and 50% unmalted barley, and bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is finished in virgin Portuguese oak, which has a higher tannin content than the oaks usually used for whiskey. The series is made in partnership with The Tree Council of Ireland, and this release funds a second acre of native Irish trees in County Dublin. The nose has ripe red fruits, berries, pears, toasted wood and spice. The palate shows fruit, spice, oak tannins and burnt sugar. The finish is honey, spice and lingering fruit.
