Templeton Midnight Rye is an American rye whiskey blended with port wine, bottled at 45% in a 70cl bottle in May 2024. The rye is matured in first-fill casks of American oak, and the port is then added to bring dark fruit and a fuller texture to the spicy rye character.
On the nose there are dark cherries and figs with spiced orange peel. The palate is full and balanced, with cinnamon, clove and dark chocolate, while the port rounds the rye spice with fruit. The long finish holds dried fruit and oak, with a touch of black pepper.
