Templeton Rye 13 Year is a straight rye whisky from Templeton, Iowa, and the oldest age-stated expression the distillery has produced. It is a limited release in The Hidden Stash Collection.
It was matured for 13 years in new charred American oak and bottled at 50.05% ABV (100.1 proof), drawn from the oldest barrels in the distillery's inventory. The Templeton brand traces back to Prohibition-era Carroll County and was revived in 2006.
The nose is rich caramel, aged oak, toffee and dark fruit with tobacco and clove. Butterscotch, rye spice, vanilla bean and dried cherry lead the palate, and the long, warm finish brings oak, honey and peppered cocoa.
