The Balvenie – 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask (70cl, 43%)

This is a 14 year old single malt from The Balvenie, matured in traditional oak whisky casks and then finished in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. It is bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. For the finish, Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums. Once he judged the casks ready, the rum was emptied and the 14 year old spirit went in for its final maturation. The nose is rich, sweet and creamy toffee with fresh fruit. The palate is rounded, with vanilla, sweet oak and a fruitiness that develops with time. The finish is soft and lingering.
