The Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak is a Speyside single malt from Dufftown, bottled at 47.6% in a 70cl bottle. It was inspired by the flavours of French Pineau des Charentes.
The whisky matured for 16 years in American oak whisky casks, then was finished in French oak casks that previously held Pineau des Charentes.
On the nose are candied citrus, orchard fruits and vanilla blossom, with honeyed malt and hints of brioche. The palate offers lemon meringue, honeycomb, pear tart and creamy vanilla, with toasted oak and white grapes. The finish is long and lightly spiced, with citrus zest and honeyed malt.
