The Balvenie 16 Years French Oak is a Speyside single malt, released by the distillery as a limited series at 47.6% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It matured first in ex-bourbon casks, which bring rich notes of vanilla, fresh fruit and spice. A finish of a few months in ex-Pineau casks then adds grapefruit, candied fruit, white flowers and spice.
