The Balvenie – 21 Year Old Portwood 2001 (40%)

The Balvenie 21 Year Old Portwood is a single malt bottled at 40% ABV. It is matured in two stages: after more than two decades in its first cask, it spends a second period in Port wood, and that second cask gives the Portwood style its core. Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE created it, and the honey character of The Balvenie runs underneath. The nose is fruity, with ripe raisin and a nutty dryness. The palate is creamy and silky, with fruit, honey and spice. The finish is long and gentle, with nutty tones.
