The Balvenie PortWood 21 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the distillery in Dufftown, bottled at 40% and non-chill-filtered, in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent more than twenty years in traditional American oak casks before a further period of finishing in port pipes. The finish adds fruit sweetness, nuttiness and spice to the honeyed depth of the distillery's style.
The nose is fragrant, with ripe raisins, fruit and soft oak over a gentle nutty dryness. The palate is silky and creamy, with honey, dried fruit, sweet malt and delicate spice. The finish is long and nutty, with oak warmth and soft fruit sweetness.
