The Cheshire Single Malt Whisky 5 Year Old (70cl)

A five year old single malt from The Cheshire, bottled in a run of 1,333 individually numbered 70cl bottles. It matured for over five years, first in single-use ex-bourbon American oak quarter casks that were shaved, toasted and re-charred to a medium to heavy degree. It was then finished in European oak casks that held port, red wine, madeira and moscatel. It is natural colour and non-chill filtered. The nose has vanilla, toffee and figs, with roasted almonds turning to delicate marzipan. Honeyed malt gives way to caramel and dried fruits on the palate, and the finish is smooth and nutty-sweet, fading to mellow spice.
