The Deacon is a blended malt Scotch whisky made by Halewood Artisanal Spirits and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is made only from single malts, with no grain whisky, from distilleries on Islay and in Speyside.
The two regions give it two kinds of smoke: maritime, medicinal peat from Islay and a drier, bonfire-like smokiness from Speyside, over honeyed cereal sweetness.
The nose is charred orange peel, malty biscuit and woodsmoke. The palate is juicy orange and honeyed malt, with baking spice, vanilla and a tangy, gradual peat. The finish is medium to long, balancing sweetness and smoke.
