The Famous Grouse Prestige Rare Old is a blended whisky from Matthew Gloag & Son, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is strongly shaped by sherry, with dark dried fruit, toffee, vanilla and candied orange peel. Espresso, dark chocolate, toasted oak and nutmeg sit behind.
On the palate it is silky and velvety, with prune, ripe fig and sherry sweetness, then cocoa, orange zest, cinnamon and clove. The finish is long, with toasted almond, fig and cocoa fading over warm oak.
