The Famous Grouse Vintage Malt Whisky 1989 is a vintage-dated expression from Matthew Gloag & Son, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is rich and fragrant, with dried figs and raisins, milk chocolate and heather honey. Madeira cake, cinnamon, orange peel and a very subtle, elegant peat smoke follow.
The palate is silky and creamy. It begins slightly dry, then moves to raisins, toffee and orange zest, with spiced oak and nutmeg from the wood. The finish is long, clean and slightly dry, with lingering warm spice, cocoa, ripe fruit and a faint smoky echo.
