The GlenDronach – Ode to the Embers (70cl, 48.4%)

The GlenDronach Ode to the Embers is a lightly peated Highland single malt from The Master's Anthology, bottled at 48.4% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which bring dark, sweet fruit alongside a note of gentle peat smoke. The expression is a tribute to the days when peat smoke was used to dry the malt. The nose is of cinnamon toffee, caramelised apple, walnuts and roasted orange. On the palate come raisins, honey, blackberry ganache and smoky chocolate fondant. The finish is rich, spicy and gently smoky.
