The GlenDronach – Port Wood (70cl, 46%)

This is a Highland single malt from The GlenDronach, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. GlenDronach is best known for maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez casks, and this bottling shows another side of the distillery. The whisky is ten years old, with three of those years spent in ex-port casks from the Douro. The nose is dark chocolate, red wine and red fruit with a touch of citrus. The palate begins spicy, then moves towards chocolate and fruit. The finish is spicy and fairly dry, with some liquorice.
