A 12 year old single malt from Glenrothes, a Speyside distillery founded in 1879 and known for its hand grenade-shaped bottles.
The distillery runs its stills slowly, using boil bulbs and very tall stills, and has a floral, sweet and spicy house character.
The nose has gingerbread, stewed apple and earthy vanilla, with soft tropical fruit and a hint of sherried funk. The palate is creamy, with hazelnut, dried fruit, cinnamon, chocolate, old leather, dried herbs, tobacco, Galia melon and honeyed oak. The finish is long and sweet, with baking spice and stewed fruits.
