The Glenrothes Vintage Reserve is a Speyside single malt without an age statement, which was the distillery's flagship for many years. It is a vatting of ten different Glenrothes vintages from the last three decades, drawn from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s, and the whisky is dark amber in colour. It is bottled at 40% in a 75cl bottle.
The nose is fresh grass and barley with honey and sherry sweetness, followed by light oak, nuts, grape and lemon peel. The palate is slightly oily with good texture, bringing vanilla, lemon, grape and nuts, with oak, honey and pepper. The finish is a little longer than expected, bittersweet and peppery, with light sherry and oak.
