The Whisky Maker's Cut is a single malt from The Glenrothes, bottled at 48.8% in a 70cl bottle. It belongs to the Soleo Collection, a range built around sherry casks. Unlike the age-stated bottlings in that collection, which use sherry casks of various fills, this one is matured entirely in first-fill sherry casks. The name Soleo refers to the Spanish tradition of drying grapes in the sun. The nose combines woody notes with candied fruit. On the palate, rich, smooth vanilla comes with fresh orange peel, and the finish is long, with orange peel and a hint of nutmeg.
