The Gospel Bottled-in-Bond Straight Rye is an Australian rye whiskey made at The Gospel's Brunswick distillery in Melbourne and bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from unmalted rye grown on a single farm in South Australia's Murray Mallee region, and was distilled in a single season by Ian Thorn.
It matured for over four years in new American oak barrels. The packaging carries cyanotype botanical artwork inspired by Anna Atkins.
The nose has toffee apple, caraway, dark rye bread and fennel seed. The palate is warming, with pepper, chai spices, vanilla and sweet pastry. The finish is long and peppery, with lasting rye spice.
