Starward – Lagavulin Cask Finish (70cl)

Starward Lagavulin Cask Finish is an Australian single malt made in Melbourne, in a 70cl bottle. It begins as the distillery's signature single malt, aged for three years in red wine barrels. The whisky then spent a further 18 months in peated barrels from Lagavulin on Islay. Maturation took place in Melbourne, where the changeable weather makes the barrels expand and contract, drawing flavour from the wood. On the nose there is charred pineapple and fresh nectarine with a touch of coastal peat. The palate brings tropical fruit and delicate black tea, rich and gently smoky, and the finish is dry yet fruity with toasted oak.
