The Macallan 12 Years Old 110 Proof Sherry Oak is a Speyside single malt from the Easter Elchies Estate, matured for at least 12 years in sherry-seasoned oak casks. It is bottled at 55%, which is the 110 proof of the name.
The Macallan was founded in 1824, and this bottling belongs to its Sherry Oak range, where the casks take the leading role.
The nose is intense and full, with dried fruit, raisins and orange peel, followed by vanilla, ginger, cinnamon and polished oak. The palate is powerful and concentrated, with dark fruit, raisins and orange.
