The Macallan 15 Years Old Double Cask is a Speyside single malt matured for at least 15 years in American and European oak. Both kinds of oak were seasoned with sherry in Jerez de la Frontera, then emptied and sent to the distillery to be filled with new make spirit.
The American oak adds vanilla, fresh fruit and toffee, while the European oak brings gentle spice and dried fruit. The colour is natural.
On the nose there is dried fruit, butterscotch and baked apple. The palate shows raisins, sultanas, cinnamon and nutmeg, and the finish is medium in length, with oak and sweet spice.
