The Macallan Red Collection 40 Years Old is a single malt bottled at 48.1%, from a very limited release. The collection takes its name from Macallan's founder, Alexander Reid, known as The Red.
The colour is antique gold. The nose combines orange and grapefruit with dark chocolate, antique oak, wood spices, fig and poached pear. The palate brings ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla, with malty notes and fig. The finish is long, with delicate wisps of woodsmoke.
