This is a 15 year old single malt from The Singleton of Glen Ord, the only remaining single malt distillery on the Black Isle. It is a 2022 Special Release, bottled at 54.2% in a 70cl bottle.
Eight of its years were spent in wine casks.
The nose is dry and vinous, with oak shavings, beech, tart red berries, creamy vanilla and a hint of wax. The palate is smooth and mouth-filling, barley-sugar sweet with a pinch of salt, turning tart with gooseberry and crisp grape. The finish is long and drying, with lingering pepper heat and a trace of fondant when water is added.
