The Tyrconnell 15 Year Old Madeira Cask Finish is an Irish single malt from the Kilbeggan range. It was released in March 2018 as a limited edition.
The whisky spent 15 years in American oak casks that previously held bourbon, then finished its maturation in former Madeira wine casks. It was distilled twice rather than the three times more usual in Irish whiskey.
The nose is fruity and spiced, with white grapes, peaches, honey on toast and sweet pastries. The palate brings ripe fruit, coffee, caramel, honey, warm toast, red apple and raisins, followed by a long, lingering finish.
