The Whistler 16 Year Old El Misterioso (2022) (46%)

The Whistler 16 Year Old El Misterioso is an Irish single malt from Boann Distillery and the first release in the El Misterioso series, bottled at 46%. It was matured in bourbon casks, then finished for two years in Palo Cortado sherry casks chosen with bodegas in Jerez. Boann set out to give an Irish whisky the refinement of Andalusian sherry. This is a limited release from 2022. The nose offers orange zest, roasted almonds, toffee, dried figs, light spices and warm oak. On the palate are honey, nutmeg, dark chocolate, caramel, hazelnut and orange, with a creamy texture. The finish is long and silky, with warm wood, raisins and soft spices.
