The Whistler 7 Years Cask Strength is an Irish single malt from the family-run Boann Distillery. It spent five years in bourbon casks, then two more in Oloroso sherry casks. Batch 2 is bottled at 59%, the cask strength, and is non-chill-filtered and free of added colour.
The nose combines salted caramel, fresh apples, juicy apricots and dried orange peel. On the palate there is soft toffee with a light salty edge, delicate citrus and a handful of dried fruit, with a touch of white pepper lingering. The finish is medium in length and spicy, with a trace of cream caramel.
