This is an Irish blended whiskey from The Whistler, made by Boann Distillery in the Boyne Valley. Triple Oak refers to three things: triple distillation, three styles of whiskey and three types of cask.
The blend brings together single pot still, single malt and single grain whiskey, matured in bourbon, oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. It is bottled at 40%.
The nose is led by salted caramel and vanilla, with toffee, light oak spice, citrus, honey, dark chocolate and a hint of nut. The palate is soft and creamy, with vanilla, honey and caramel, balanced by toasted oak, citrus peel, dried fruit and warming spice. The finish is long and slightly tingling, ending on honey sweetness.
