Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye Antique Collection 2022 (65.5%)

This is Thomas H. Handy Sazerac Rye from the 2022 Antique Collection at Buffalo Trace. It was distilled in spring 2016 and bottled in autumn 2022 after six years and four months in cask, unfiltered and uncut at 65.5% ABV. It was aged in number 4 char, virgin white American oak barrels in warehouses I, L and M at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and 31% was lost to evaporation. The mash bill combined Kentucky corn, Minnesota rye and North Dakota malted barley. The nose offers fragrant florals, fennel, marmalade and cinnamon. The palate brings baking spice, citrus zest and tobacco, and the finish is cinnamon and spicy rye.
